Sleep plays a huge role in children’s growth, learning, and happiness. At Fame Preschool, we see how a good night’s rest helps children concentrate, regulate their emotions, and fully enjoy their day of play and discovery.
Here’s what to know about healthy sleep and how to support it at home.
Why sleep matters:
Sleep is when children’s brains and bodies recharge. During sleep, children:
Process new information and strengthen memory
Grow (thanks to growth hormone released during deep sleep)
Regulate mood and emotions
Boost their immune systems
Lack of sleep can lead to over-tiredness, big emotions, and difficulty focusing.
⏰ Recommended sleep times:
Every child is different, but here are general guidelines from the Ministry of Health:
Infants (0–12 months): 12–16 hours (including naps)
Toddlers (1–2 years): 11–14 hours (including naps)
Preschoolers (3–5 years): 10–13 hours (including naps)
🌼 Tips for healthy sleep routines:
Keep bedtime consistent. A regular bedtime and wake time help set the body clock.
Create a calm routine. Try bath, story, cuddle, sleep — same order each night.
Avoid screens before bed. Blue light makes it harder to fall asleep.
Watch for tired signs. Yawning, rubbing eyes, or becoming clingy means bedtime is near.
Comfort and reassurance. Separation anxiety is common; a calm goodnight ritual helps.
🧸 Naps at Fame Preschool
Our preschool has cosy, quiet spaces where children can rest or nap when they need to. Teachers support each child’s natural rhythm, ensuring they’re comfortable, calm, and well-rested.
We encourage parents to share what works best at home — together, we create consistency so children feel secure in both environments.
Good sleep supports happy, curious, and resilient learners. By building simple bedtime routines and working in partnership, we can help every child get the rest they need to thrive.
