4 Year Olds - Kingfisher Group
At 4 years old, children transition into the Kingfisher Group. This is the group they have mat time and lunch times with, as well as dedicated teachers planning for their learning.
From the time they join this group, their teachers set clear expectations about how to contribute and participate which fosters engagement and readiness, to prepare them for when they go to Primary School.
Tuakana Programme
Around two terms before children start school, they join the 'Tuakana Group'. This group focuses on essential skills needed for school. The teachers responsible for this group have worked closely with our local primary schools to understand what the schools need children to be doing when they start school.
These skills include: carrying in and hanging up their bags, taking care of their belongings, knowing who they are, having the ability to express their feelings and needs, identifying the letters in their names and understanding how to participate in turn taking and waiting during games and group activities.
Community Outings
We have a centre van and are able to take our some of our Kingfisher group out for local outings during the week.
These trips help to our children to connect with the local community while understanding rules around safety and expectations for taking part in the group outings.
We visit places such as: local art galleries, the supermarket, hardware and garden stores, Shakespeare Regional Park.
Collaboration with local Schools
The programme we offer and plan for, has been developed in collaboration with our local Primary Schools. From 4 years old, we build on the knowledge and skills our children have already gained at Fame, to foster their understanding about the world around them, and what going to school will be like.
It is important that parents connect with their child's school by the age of 3 years old. This helps the school make arrangements for their child, and the other children starting at the same time.

Local Schools
These are the local school websites where you can find out if you are in zone and how to enrol:
We have children who attend all of these schools, so your child is likely to make friends with children heading to their school.
